It is difficult to believe that in our beautiful beach towns, there are so many of our neighbors who struggle to make ends meet. Many of them are service industry workers who fall behind with their expenses when their hours are cut back in winter months; others are folks who barely live paycheck to paycheck when they are unexpectedly faced with a crisis.
The Community Resource Center (CRC), a 501 (c)(3) organization, was created in 2011 to assist low-income individuals and families in times of need. We are reaching out to businesses in our community to invite them to become a sponsor for our annual fundraiser, Building Bridges for Neighbors in Need.. The event will be held May 12, 2022 from 6 - 9 pm at the Peninsula Clubhouse in Millsboro. I am inviting you to partner with the CRC to help bridge the gap for our families in need. If your business becomes a sponsor of our event, you will be helping CRC raise the much-needed funds to support those less fortunate. Our sponsors and supporters have helped CRC make a real impact in our community:
- In 2021, CRC provided over $400,000 in financial assistance to keep families in their homes by preventing eviction and utility disconnection.
- Helped nearly 1,000 children by providing them with diapers, food, clothing and books.
- Prevented hunger by giving away 3,000 bags of groceries each month.
- Hosted an expanded Day Center program for our homeless neighbors to provide shelter from the inclement weather this past winter, supportive programs, food, showers and access to laundry services.
